Commission for Voluntary Action Rotherham. to produce artworks for The Spectrum centre. Work was installed by the 30 January 2009.

'Journey - there to here'

"The artworks at The Spectrum, seen on the windows and in the reception lobby has been specially commissioned by Voluntary Action Rotherham. They use the subject of journey as their main focus.

Each of the drawn lines in the work is a journey that is linked to The Spectrum and Voluntary Action Rotherham. The lines are traced from maps and show the routes that staff in the building make when travelling to and from work and routes to some of the organisations they support.

A journey can suggest many things from simple movement to personal or social change and development. Arranged in circles the images suggest community and inclusiveness. Flowers as in the photographic pictures are a universal image which suggest growth.

The artist hopes that the work reflects some of the values of Voluntary Action Rotherham and makes the Spectrum an enjoyable place to work and visit."
